Make a Difference Day - October 2017
The 72+ volunteers who joined us on this day represented Azusa Pacific University, Pasadena City College, and the Volunteer Center of San Gabriel Valley. Many wonderful improvements were made at several sites…
- The Boys and Girls Club of Monrovia and the surrounding park area got a cleaning on the interior, a power washing on the exterior, reorganization of storage areas and bookcases, raking and cleaning of the yard areas, cleaning out of vegetable garden planter boxes, painting and replacing picnic table tops, and weeds pulled.
- A carpet removal project at the new future home of the Foothill Unity Center was also accomplished thanks to the Volunteer Center of San Gabriel Valley and Rebuilding Together, San Gabriel Valley Foothills.
- A home renovation project of a local Monrovia resident included installing a safety wheelchair ramp. The home owner has worked in teaching construction skills to students at Pasadena City College for more than 40 years, and was a past board member of Rebuilding Together Pasadena. He is now on medical leave and utilizes a walker and wheelchair for his daily mobility. This was truly a project of giving back to someone who has given so much to his community.
- And in a kitchen, an installation of granite counter tops and replacement of exterior lighting was completed by RTSGVF and Volunteers.
